The Indian judiciary is integrating advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) into the e-Courts system. A Sub-Committee of six High Court judges, supported by domain experts, has been set up by the e-Committee of the Supreme Court to recommend secure connectivity and data protection mechanisms. Further, the government has allocated ₹7210 crore, with ₹53.57 crore specifically set aside for technological advancement in AI and blockchain under the e-Courts Phase III project. Such an integration is to enable scheduling, automated filing, predictive analytics, translation, and chatbot-based communication and to build a more secure, and citizen-centric digital justice delivery system.
