The Indian judiciary is integrating advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) into the e-Courts system. A Sub-Committee of six High Court judges, supported by domain experts, has been set up by the e-Committee of the Supreme Court to recommend secure connectivity and data protection mechanisms. Further, the government has allocated INR 7210 crore, with INR 53.57 crore specifically set aside for technological advancement in AI and blockchain under the e-Courts Phase III project. Such an integration is to enable scheduling, automated filing, predictive analytics, translation, and chatbot-based communication and to build a more secure, and citizen-centric digital justice delivery system.
